About

I started this blog nearly 10 years ago, at 15, when I was an aspiring Tavi Gevinson, wanting to be a quirky, artistic, tumblr it-girl. In its first iteration, this blog was called Frick Frackin' Feminist. As a junior in college, I re-worked it to better fit who I was at the time and eventually settled on Wield the Knife. This name is inspired by my favorite horror film women, who are often seen wielding the knives from their own kitchens as weapons to protect themselves and their loved ones. I see "wielding the knife" as a means of oppressed people taking up the objects often used to oppress as a means of reclaiming the autonomy that has been taken from them at some point. I want to use this blog to highlight how we can all wield our own knives and refuse to be held, or allow others to be held, under the knife that is oppression and fascism.
